What
It Takes a Village is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing prenatal and postpartum education and support to women and families in Southeast Missouri and surrounding areas.
Why
We are passionate about improving access to accurate information and support on breastfeeding, increasing access to doulas, and fostering a better understanding of physiologically normal birth and the natural development of children from infancy to adolescence.
How
- Hosting classes for local families on birth prep, breastfeeding, potty learning, and more.
- Recruiting and supporting individuals to become certified as doulas, lactation counselors, and birth educators, and bringing continuing education oppportunities to the region.
- Raising awareness of the benefits of support in pregnancy, delivery, and 4th trimester, and partnering with local agencies to reach families.
